    Dear Valentine

I think this might be pretty obvious.

I am really busy. Classes have been killer, (and I'm only taking 12 real credits! wtf?!!) homework and papers are out the window, and I've been studying for the GRE that I am taking this Saturday. Disaster on the horizon...

My nephew Nolan William Ophoff was born on Nov. 15, 2008. Greg, Matt and I packed up and headed out to Holland to see the 9 lbs, 8 oz monster. He was great, because after all, he's a newborn - they don't do a whole lot. Evan was a lot of fun to play with. Love that little guy.

Maybe Nolan will google his name 15 years from now and find this post. That would be kind of creepy actually.

Well, the end product of this entry is that I hope to be moving over to Blogger somehow soon. Mostly just for the sheer aesthetics, and because Xanga has lost a lot of web traffic over the past 6 years. Also, because Google is the best company ever and they control Blogger, therefore making Blogger the best weblog site ever.

    I miss sailing...

Hold, I'm on my way, to a holiday, in real time...

    Words escape me.

I have no idea how to culminate the past two and a half months into a post. Or even a series of posts.

I spent my summer at North Star Camp, and it was the best summer I've ever had since getting a job. Forget Edson Creek, Donnelleys, Varsity Club, or Snow Mountain Ranch. North Star is where my love lies. North Star love will not fade away. What an amazing summer.

And I'm super tan and bleached for it too. And I feel like that if I don't get out near the water once a month, I might die. I loved teaching kids how to sail. And some of those kids are bloody good sailors too.

I also went on a small endeavor this past week. Starting Monday and getting back just today (Friday), I spent the days and nights with eleven other amazing Calvin RA's, and two kickbutt RD's. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. We traveled up to Traverse City and using their main campsite as a basecamp, we completed two long bike rides - and that is not easy biking country. Damn you wineries and your hills. But the free wine tasting was great. By the time we got back to camp, we were sloshed! Just kidding. It was good times hanging out with NVW and of course, SE.

We then made our last ride to another campsite at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. I was leader for that one, and it was... good. Despite the largest hill we'd ever encountered, we got there safe and sound.

Ok, so I am not as BA as my dad, who is biking across the country, but I had my own things to worry about. My knee killed the entire trip... it was very painful - but now its fine. Riding in a van? No. Sitting here at a computer? Yes. How convenient.

I am excited for decorating my room! I am going to use fabric from some...fabric...store... and mirror the colors of Lake Michigan. Its going to be amazing. I can't wait. Molly has to help me.

It's very late. I just wanted to say how much I loved this past summer, how excited I am for this coming semester, and how tired and happy I am.

"...hold my hand just one more time
to see if you're really going to meet me..."

    Lost It, Found It

    Quick and dirty!

Over the past three weeks, I lost my iPod Shuffle and the knife that Zac bought me for Christmas.

I hate losing crap like that, because its stuff that I always carry around with me, so I feel lost, alone, frightened, and naked without them.

But here is the...  ...nearly hilarious thing.

I found the knife. It was deep in the depths of my couch. And yes, I sweared I scoured the face of the earth for both of them, even more so for the iPod. We went to freaking Shelby and back!

Well, I found the iPod. It was in my sandal. MY SANDAL. How in the..?!?!

Well, I have them both back.

But here is the truly hilarious kicker.

I've bought replacements for them both. Thats aight. Now I have two Shuffles and two knives. w00t.

Whoa, creepy, I almost chose the exact same song as the last post. Whoa freaky.

    Your Debut Album

This summer vacation has been magical. Perhaps the best since the summer after sophomore year of high school. (The next summer I got a job, and it's been hell ever since.)

I'll be sailing this summer. Can't beat it.

Oh yeah. Teaching kids how to sail. Right.

The joys of Stumbling...I thoroughly enjoyed this.

    1 - Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

    2 - Go to Random quotations: http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

If you want to do this again, you'll hit refresh to generate new quotes, because clicking the quotes link again will just give you the same quotes over and over again.

3 - Go to flickr's "explore the last seven days" http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

Put it all together, that's your debut album.

    Here is my debut album.

    Occult Compensation

    "As A Man's Head"

And yes, I am unapologetically listening to Backstreet Boys. Don't even hate, unless you have listened to this album. Completely different.

    Now for something completely different.

Memorial Day was excellent. One of those events that never changes as you get older, but you experience it differently as you get older. Yeah, as Dufus would say, "We're old. Pretty soon we'll be dead. Good life huh?"

Fark linked this image as one of their posted stories. Very powerful. Two kind of goodbyes.

Today screams for a good bike ride. I'll just use my brothers iPod. Since I lost mine. Yes Tom, I finally lost my Shuffle. I ordered a new one. It's blue...-ish. Some opponents would state its purple. It's... blue-ish purple-ish. I like it. If it's really that bad, then I'll skin it black. w00t.

Don't hate. Don't drink the Haterade.

This post was very eclectic. Sorry, won't happen again.

    Quick and Dirty

I think my song, which I chose first before blogging, is very fitting.

It is raining outside. A lot. Cats, dogs, girlfriends, pudding, and kitchen sinks excluding the kitchens. Because raining entire kitchens is just nonsense.

Speaking of jumping out of airplanes, .........Brad Helman (soon to be Mr. McDaniel), Ken Bailey, Steve Ommert, and myself will be jumping out of airplanes for the best bachelors party to ever hit Ohio! I'll be finding a place around the greater northern Ohio area that offers skydiving. Solo skydiving would be the best! We'll see what happens.

Maybe I can rig up the touch sensitive arm patches that deploy your chute when you are hit with a sword. Mwa ha ha ha!

Being a camp counselor and being an RA next year on Second Schultze might be very similar. I think the only thing that will be different will be the age of the residents. Just kiddin' guys. I can't wait to be an RA. It's going to be freaking fantastic!

I went home this past weekend. For literally not even 24 hours. Drove home Saturday night, stayed Sunday, went to Brads surprise graduation party, finally met Steve and Ken, stuck my hand in a cake, and then drove home. Brad owes me BIG time now. Can't believe I did that. And right on the eve of a terrible week.

And it has been a terrible week.

I just hate physics SOOOO much. Just... utter... worthlessness. *contempt*

Talking of physics, Randall Munroe is a fantastic guy. I watched online a long talk he gave at Google Headquarters in Mountain View, CA. It was great! It was cool to see the guy behind the best webcomic, EVER.

I have many other things I could expound on, but really, this entry is long enough and I should be homework of some flavor.

    I enjoy rain.

I miss Nathan! Come back from Thailand!
